Accessibility

The Art House is committed to providing arts and cultural experiences for the whole community.

Please let our Box Office staff know when booking if you have a hearing aid or require accessible seating.

All major areas of The Art House feature wheelchair accessibility and The Art House is accessible from street level. 

Accessible Parking

There are two accessible car parks located next to The Art House building in Pauline Lane. Parking is available free of charge in various spots across the Wyong town centre and close to The Art House. Please refer to the street map on our GETTING HERE page for further information.

Companion Card

For patrons who require the assistance of a companion or carer, a ticket for the companion is issued at no cost to the Companion Card holder. If you have a Companion Card, please let our Box Office staff know when booking tickets so that a second ticket can be arranged. The Companion Card will need to be sighted before tickets can be issued.

Assistance Animals

All certified assistance animals are welcome inside all areas of The Art House. Patrons are not required to inform the theatre they are attending with a service animal.

Accessible Bathroom

The accessible bathroom is located in the main foyer, to the left of the Café and Bar, and directly behind the male and female bathrooms. The accessible bathroom is available for visitors to utilise and is easily accessible from all performance spaces.

Accessible/Wheelchair Seating

Dedicated level accessible seating is available in “H” row of our main Theatre and accommodated by request in the Studio. Please discuss your specific requirements with Box Office staff when booking your tickets and we will find the best available seating for you.

Seats can be removed from Row H of the Theatre to accommodate wheelchairs of 1mtr in width. H3 and H24 (on either end of Row H) are dedicated empty wheelchair bays that may be able to accommodate wheelchairs of a larger size. 

While wheelchairs, walkers and mobility scooters are all welcome within the Theatre, they cannot be left in walkways or aisles. Patrons who opt to transfer from their mobility aid to a seat, must store their device in the Sound Lock.

Mobility and Stairways

Patrons with limited mobility are encouraged to book seats within the Stalls when possible. Seats in the Balconies require patrons to navigate a staircase. 

Patrons sitting in the stalls may need to ascend/descend up to 20 stairs to access their seat. Patrons sitting in Balcony 1 will need to ascend/descend up to 24 stairs. Patrons sitting in Balcony 2 will need to ascend/descend up to 36 stairs. All stairways have industry standard railings.

Seat Dimensions

Row A to the Front of Stage

There is an average distance of 1450mm between seats in Row A and the stage edge. 

Distance between Rows

There is an average distance of 550mm between a row and the row in front when seats are unoccupied.

Courtesy Wheelchair

A courtesy wheelchair (standard manual wheelchair) is available for loan via the Box Office for patrons attending performances in the Theatre or Studio from an hour before showtime. Due to limited availability, patrons are encouraged to place a courtesy wheelchair request at the time of booking.

Hearing

Adult and children’s sound sensitivity headphones are available for loan upon request via the Box Office. Due to limited availability, patrons are encouraged to request headphones at time of booking.

Assistive Listening System

Patrons using hearing aids may access the hearing induction loop available in the auditorium. In order to utilise the loop please switch your hearing aid to the "T" position.

Newer hearing aids may tune into the hearing induction loop automatically and do not have a “T” switch. Please consult your doctor if you are unsure which kind of hearing aid you have.

National Relay Service

If a patron is deaf, or has a hearing or speech impairment, they can contact us through the National Relay Service. For more information, visit relayservice.gov.au.

Vision

Patrons who are vision impaired are encouraged to discuss their needs with Box Office Staff who can assist in allocating an appropriate seat. Assistance animals are welcome in all areas of The Art House.

Children and Families

Children of all ages are welcome, and we encourage you to bring children to performances. Children up to the age of 2 years are free of charge if seated on the lap of an adult. Children 2 years and over must have a ticket purchased for them. In most instances a child’s tickets is up to the age of 11 years unless otherwise specified. Patrons aged 12 years and over will require a student ticket (if available) or an adult ticket.

We understand that attending a show with small children can be a stressful experience. If your child becomes unsettled or needs to leave the performance, our ushers will be able to help you out of the auditorium and let you back in at a suitable time. If you have any queries about the suitability of a show for children, please check with staff.

Baby change facilities are available within The Art House’s accessible bathroom located to the left of the Café and Bar.

Booster cushions are available upon request for young children. Parents and guardians can request a booster cushion from the Usher checking their ticket at the door. Strollers and prams are not permitted inside the Theatre and can be stored in the Sound Lock.
