The Art House presents
an Art House Production

Flat Pack

“When do we become our parents’ parents?” We all remember a moment when going through a loved one’s possessions stirred up memories, Flat Pack beautifully captures that feeling of nostalgia.

Debbie’s father has dementia and has been moved into care. It’s fallen on her to pack up the lifetime of memories strewn across his garage floor. But, like a flat pack without instructions, she’ll need to unpack everything before she works out how to put it all together and move on.

Flat Pack is a world premiere and the first fully produced work by The Art House. Central Coast artist Danielle Brame Whiting has been supported through The Art House Creatives program to develop Flat Pack from concept, through development and on to the stage.

At the heart of this play is the relationship of a daughter and her ailing father, and one woman’s reality of being the child of a Vietnam veteran.

The audience is invited to join her in Dad’s garage as she attempts to organise his things, her memories, her errant sister, her guilt… and a random furniture flat pack she found behind old paint tins.

Created in collaboration with award winning playwright and director Vanessa Bates, and multi-talented actress and movement director Angie Diaz, Central Coast theatre artist, Danielle Brame Whiting, brings a new and engaging one woman show to The Art House Studio that is sure to both delight and tug at the heartstrings.
