NAISDA and The Art House Present
wulbangadhi wabarangya
Join us for NAISDA’s 2025 Mid-Year Show, a dynamic program of cultural and contemporary dance works inspired by this year’s NAIDOC theme: The Next Generation: Strength, Vision and Legacy.
The use of the performance title wulbangadhi wabarangya meaning “'holding the future'” in Darkinjung language, has been gifted to NAISDA. It reflects our deep respect for Country and the strong connection we share with our national and local communities.
The program of powerful danceworks speaks to the strength of our young leaders and emerging artists, the vision of our communities, and the enduring legacy of our ancestors. As NAISDA approaches its own half-century in 2026, this performance celebrates our future being shaped by the next generation - bold, creative, and deeply connected to culture.
Guided by the wisdom of Elders and grounded in community, this is a vibrant and moving celebration of who we are, where we come from, and where we’re going, led by young artists telling their own stories, voicing their truths, and expressing culture in their own powerful ways.
Presented by NAISDA’s Developing and Practising Artists and directed by NAISDA Dance Practice Leads and acclaimed choreographers: Katina Olsen a Wakka Wakka and Kombumerri woman; and Jasmin Sheppard a Tagalaka woman of Irish, Chinese and Hungarian ancestry, the performance draws on dance, Country, story, and the universal language of movement to honour NAIDOC’s 50-year milestone of elevating Indigenous voices, resilience and culture.
Sensitive Content Notice: This performance is thoughtfully presented to voice our young people’s own truths that some may find unsettling to the spirit.
