It's time for our annual Peek Behind The Curtain member experience and we're pleased to invite you and a friend to peel the curtain back on the magic of theatre! 

This event will be an insider's look into what it takes to create and produce a musical theatre production with Richard Carroll, the director behind Every Musical Ever, GODSPELL and Ride The Cyclone at The Art House. 

In 2025, Richard will be directing his very own version of The Pirates of Penzance alongside The Art House as a co-commissioning partner. This brand-new, boisterously joyful adaptation is brought to life by just four bold performers, including Jay Laga'aia and Brittanie Shipway. 

Enjoy a panel discussion between Richard and The Art House Executive Director Anne-Marie Heath, along with delicious canapés, nibbles, and live entertainment by our Art House Artist performers, plus a sneaky tour backstage. 

Richard Carroll is a director, writer and producer based in Sydney. Since 2022, he has been Co-Artistic Director of Hayes Theatre Co with Victoria Falconer.

Directing work at Hayes Theatre Co includes Ride The Cyclone, Murder For Two, Calamity Jane (followed by Belvoir season and national tour), Godspell, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Monty Python’s Spamalot (followed by Australian tour), Gypsy, Side Show, and Murder For Two: Christmas Edition, as well as numerous concerts, cabaret shows and events.

In 2025, he will direct his own new adaptation of The Pirates of Penzance, and Jordan Shea’s new Australian work Merry & Bright, starring the theatre’s namesake Nancye Hayes. He won a Sydney Theatre Award for Calamity Jane, and was nominated this year for Murder For Two.
