The Art House
The Art House officially opened in May 2016 in Wyong, the heart of the Central Coast, and has the aim of providing a professional performing arts’ space for the community, as well as bringing national and international touring productions to the Central Coast.
It offers a diversity of arts, entertainment and cultural opportunities, with the vision of providing a professional performing arts space on the Central Coast for local artists to showcase their talent and facilitate touring and commercial productions.
The Art House is a 500 seat theatre and 130 retractable seat studio with exhibition foyer, meeting room, shop and bar.
Planning by the former Wyong Shire Council for The Art House began in early 2009 to respond to an identified need for a suitable venue for both amateur and professional performing arts groups as well as the broader arts community on the Central Coast.
The Art House continues the arts legacy left by the Wyong Community Hall, which was in operation for over 65 years.
After lobbying state and federal government for funding to undertake this significant project, the former Wyong Shire Council made the decision to fund The Art House itself. The former Wyong Shire Council funded 95% of the project at a total construction cost of $12.7 million. The State Government has supported with internal fitout.
The Art House is owned by Central Coast Council and managed by an independent not-for-profit entity with an independent board of directors.
