Regional Youth Support Services Inc. presents
Art Exhibition: Bunnal - A Place Of Heart
3 Feb - 29 Feb 2020 Showing at The Art House Foyer Exhibition Space
Over 30 young people of different cultures, ages and abilities engaged in workshops that took them on a journey exploring our rich and vibrant Aboriginal culture. Through site-specific creative developments the young artists heard stories, learnt about our environment and visited sacred sites under the cultural mentorship of Gavi Duncan. The art creations are from their journey and in response to the environment and sites they visited. Over six months through various creative workshops the participants learnt contemporary and traditional methods of art making collaborating with four local artists.
This project gave young artists the opportunity to spend time with local artists learning from them new ideas, techniques and ways of looking at the world.
The intention of this project was to develop new cultural works, share skills, knowledge and inspiration and encourage collaboration between different
people, opening up a visual language that can be enjoyed by both artists, participants and viewers.
Bunnal - A Place of Heart is funded by Create NSW and Regional Youth Support Services Inc.
Supported by Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council, Gunjagang Ngara Li-dhi Aboriginal Corporation and Gosford Regional Gallery.
